I came to Denmark in 1973 to study at the Copenhagen University. The year after I got married and for several years I took care of my four children. When the children were a little older, I went back to study economics, IT and customer relations.
I passed my exam in Danish-Japanese social and medical interpretation in 1991 and furthermore business and technical interpretation in 1993 at a private EU financed school. As a certified interpreter I have since work within numerous fields such as social and health care, environment projects, information technology, agriculture, laws and construction sector.
In 1969 I went to Europe with the ambition to explore the great variety of people and cultures. Coincidently I settled down in Denmark. The relations that I have formed during this time have enabled me to better understand the mentality of the Danish people.
The Danish welfare system and in particular Danish history attracted my attention. Especially the famous author H. C. Andersen became one of my big passions. Since then I have spent more than 20 years studying this great fairy tale author including the lesser known parts of his life. My many years of studying the history and culture of Denmark and my experiences of "the real life" in Denmark is something that benefits me in my daily work as an interpreter.
